ProMax Ceasing Operations?
In a sad and shocking announcement today, ProMax Systems, Inc (http://www.promax.com/) announced that they would be ceasing operations effective immediately. Here is the official announcement:
“Founded in 1994 by Charles McConathy, Promax Systems became a recognized leader in custom configured, reliable high performance video editing and storage systems. According to Dan Hatch, president of Promax, ““I tried everything. New business models, everything. The fact is, doing business in a State like California with its high cost of living, high business taxes, sky rocketing healthcare and insurance costs, and in an industry with wafer thin margins just did us in. I feel for my employees more than myself, but we tried all we could do and ultimately there was nothing left for us to do. The economy as it exists now didn’t help much either. I just don’t see it changing soon. I had to make a decision. Yes, it’s a sad time right now. Hurts more than you can imagine.” Promax has been a consistent and reliable sponsor of Final Cut User Groups, the Digital Production BuZZ, and the general FCP community for years. They will be greatly missed.”
I’d be lying if I didn’t say that we wont miss their competition but we had a lot of good friends over there and they were a top notch, professional organization. Wish you all the best.

Obama Spot
Here’s another spot that we were privileged to be a part of. Although I’m not an Obama supporter, I think it’s a nice spot. . . .

Owl Spot Complete
The spot is finished and should be airing shortly. I think it turned out pretty good . . . I mean for something with talking animals and all =) The key looks really good in my opinion – no hard edges or anything like that that scream green screen. Great job Erik, Brian and Ryan. Oh – and yes I realize he’s a democrat and yes I realize Bert said “Fight George Bush on Global Warming . . . ” Let’s just focus on how good the images look from our sweet RED camera shall we? We’re shooting another spot tomorrow for a candidate out of Bakersfield – will let you know how it goes. No animals this time – bummer.
